In a significant development, India reported only 2,503 new cases in the last 24 hours, making it the lowest in 680 days so far, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The health ministry said that India’s active caseload is at 36,168 which is the lowest in 675 days. Active cases now constitute 0.08 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
Talking about the recovery, it stands at 98.72 per cent. Also, 4,377 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,24,41,449.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 5,32,232 COVID-19 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 77.90 crore (77,90,52,383) cumulative tests, according to the ministry.
On the vaccination front, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 180.19 crore (1,80,19,45,779) through 2,10,99,040 sessions.
Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 0.47 per cent and the daily positivity rate is reported to be 0.47 per cent.
