In a recent survey conducted by recruitment consultancy firm Michael Page — ‘Job Confidence Index Q1 2017’, 62 per cent of India’s employed population seem quite satisfied with the work conditions they are provided with compared to the workforce of Asia-Pacific.
Yet, the graph in metro cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai dropped compared to the last quarter. In a city-to-city comparison, people in Chennai were least happy (58 per cent) and Bengaluru were the most satisfied (72 per cent). Delhi and Mumbai equally stood at 62 per cent.
The survey was carried out on 650 employees in India and around 5,000 in Asia-Pacific.
Comparing India with Asia-Pacific, Indians are quite optimistic about their work and here are some numbers to back that up:
According to the survey, the top three reasons to look for a job in India are:
• 42 per cent: People willing to enhance their skills
• 40 per cent: People who prefer job due for the package
• 39 per cent: People looking for better work conditions
Employees in India are more optimistic than the average Asia-Pacific class and 50 per cent are satisfied with their current job. However, there has been a decline in job confidence in Indians compared to the last quarter:
“The Indian government has taken various steps to accelerate the economy through various sector-focused initiatives. A strong demand for skilled and qualified professionals in a competitive market has resulted in the importance of skill enhancement among thousands of people,” says Michael Page India managing director Nicolas Dumoulin.
