When we say India Vs Bharat, here 'India' represents the rich and powerful who live in urban region and 'Bharat' represents the bottom of the pyramid, the poor who live in rural parts of the country but this is not the 'Bharat', Corporate Advisor and Policy Researcher Srinath Sridharan discusses in his recent book 'Time For Bharat'
"I am very proud of the journey that India has given all of us but it doesn't mean everything is right. We have to raise those questions - why is it that we are able to send low-cost rockets to space, yet we can't fix potholes on the roads. We will have to start questioning everything that is out there," says Srinath Sridharan, Corporate Advisor and Policy Researcher.
He was speaking at the Mumbai chapter of the Indian Business Literature Festival, a 21-city forum, organised by BW Businessworld, on Saturday.
Sharing his experiences of writing the book 'Time For Bharat: A researched conversation on Governance', Sridharan states, "For me, it was a very personal journey. I was motivated to relook at India. It's not a journey of a fancy name like 'Bharat' but it's been a civilisation. Our tradition and native intelligence has lot of intelligence, we have forgotten that wisdom. We need to look back."
"Bharat is not about religion, it's not about linguistic differences. Bharat as a concept is 12000 years old. If we look back at the civilisational ethos, it predates a lot of our religions," shares Sridharan.
He was speaking to Deepali Naair, Digital Sales Leader, IBM and Podcast Host - Being CEO.
