Amid the scare of Omicron variant and third wave, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday said that with the administration of 80,86,910 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 130.39 crore (1,30,39,32,286) through 1,35,89,181 sessions.
The health ministry in a statement said that 8,251 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,40,97,388. The recovery rate in the entire country stands at 98.36 per cent, which is the highest since March 2020.
A total of 9,419 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. India’s Active caseload is presently at 94,742 which constitute 0.27 per cent of the country's total positive cases, which is the lowest since March 2020.
"The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 12,89,983tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 65.19 crore (65,19,50,127) cumulative tests," according to the ministry.
Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate is at 0.74 per cent which is less than 1 per cent for the last 25 days now. The daily positivity rate is at 0.73 per cent remained below 2 per cent for the last 66 days and below 3 per cent for 101 consecutive days now.
More than 140 crore (1,40,01,00,230) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. Over 19 crore (19,08,75,946) balance and unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry informed.
