Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Feb 15 termed the announcement of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju as factually incorrect that the state had looked for a restriction on the Popular Front of India (PFI), a Muslim association.
Rijiju had made the remark at the yearly DGP meeting held at Madhya Pradesh a month ago and included that Center was thinking about it. The session was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior authorities in the security establishments. "Kerala has squeezed for a restriction on the PFI and we are inspecting the case," said Mr. Rijiju.
While refuting his claim, Pinarayi said that “It is not the (Kerala) government’s policy to ban any communal or terrorist outfit. If any such outfit needs to be banned for creating riots and dividing the society on communal lines, then RSS should be the first. However, such organizations cannot be countered with a ban. This has been proved by our experience in the past and it is our stand with the PFI too,” the Chief Minister said in a statement.
"The dangers that such mutual and psychological militant associations posture and their belief system can't be wiped out through a boycott. It ought to be managed famous and strict lawful measures," included the Chief Minister.
CM Vijayan also said that his administration has taken strict measures against communalism and psychological warfare and the outcomes are apparent in the upkeep of lawfulness in the state. He included that 104 cases were enlisted against PFI and NDF, but it is an older version, between 2005 and 2012. In any case, the number of cases radically descended as just 14 of them were registered between of 2013 and 17.
Facts prove that Kerala is at the bleeding edge in defending secularism, Vijayan said and this is being brought up by the National Crime Record Bureau.
Meanwhile, Kerala Police head, Lokanath Behra too has discharged an announcement denying the report. "There was a presentation on the subject 'Radicalization-PFI', A Case study in the DGP's Conference held in January 2018, at Tekanpur, Madhya Pradesh. This arrangement was set up by a group of DGPs of a couple of states and was exhibited by the Kerala DGP. In that presentation, there was neither a proposal nor any suggestion to force the prohibition on the Popular Front of India (PFI). Kerala police have not proposed nor composed any draft for forcing such a prohibition on the PFI till date (sic)," clarified the Kerala Police.
However previous security establishment reports have claimed that one Shajeer Mangalasseri Abdulla, an NIT student and lobbyist of PFI-SDPI, who left Kerala to join ISIS was executed in 2017 in Afghanistan. The news on the passing of another PFI-SDPI dissident Shameer, in Syria turned out in August 2017. In October 2017, Kerala police captured three young people, Midhilaj K C of Munderi; Abdul Razack K V of Chekkikkulam; and Raashid MV who were related to PFI for affirmed ISIS joins.
