Huawei ranks among the top five smartphone manufacturers in the world and has recently gained a wider audience thanks to the launch of its first Nexus device last year. It has announced two new smartphones in India under its Honor brand, the Honor 5X and the Honor Holly 2 Plus. Both the handset are priced under the budget friendly range and will be available from Flipkart as well as Amazon.in.
The Honor 5X is a premium looking device with an aircraft grade metal body and a fingerprint sensor which, the company claims, takes only 0.5 sec to unlock the device.
Announced first at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, it received an excellence award and is a dual-SIM and dual-LTE enabled device which comes with a microSD card slot supporting up to 128GB capacity of memory cards. There is a sharp looking 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display and a Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The phone also sports a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, a 28mm wide-angle lens, 5P lens, and Blue Glass IR filter. On the front there is a 5MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture, 22mm wide-angle, 4P Lens, Blue Glass filter and an 88 degrees wide-lens.
There is a 3000mAh battery which can be fully charged in under 2 hours thanks to fast-charge support. The metal body offers 5 layer heat sinks with copper shielding cover and can withstand extreme temperature and drops. It runs on Android 5.1 with Huawei’s own EMUI 3.1 Lite and will be updated to Android 6.0 with EMUI 4.0 soon. The Honor 5X is priced at Rs. 12,999 and will be available from 1st February.
The Holly 2 Plus is a less expensive offering, coming at a price of Rs. 8,499 and is also a dual-SIM dual-4G device just like the 5X. It features a 5-inch HD 720p IPS display and a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage that's expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). It also features a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, and a 5MP front-facing camera and a large 4,000mAh battery.
Sanjeev P, Director of Sales, Huawei India, said that it took over 5000 design patterns after the company finalized on the look which includes a textured back panel. The Holly 2 Plus will also be available from Amazon and Flipkart starting 15th February.

The company also announced that both the smartphones will come with a 15 month warranty (even rooted smartphones) along with 1 month of free screen replacement.
