These days, most of the consumers focus on flagship smartphones rather than a flagship laptop but a device like HP Spectre x360 is the reason which makes you to buy a flagship laptop.
The unit I got is priced at Rs 157,290 and was equipped with - 7th generation Intel core i7 processor, 13.3-inch FHD (1920x1080) touch display, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, and a stylus. You can also choose for different storage variants and the Intel core i5 processor variant which is relatively cheaper.
Design and Display
HP Spectre x360 is a good looking laptop which comes with white lit keyboard. As this is a luxury laptop, HP’s logo also comes in a new design which gives a “premium” look.
Thanks to the laptop’s hinges, it can be folded backwards and transformed into a Windows 10 tablet. As the device is very slim (30.7 x 21.8 x 1.39 cm) and light in weight, the laptop feels very natural to hold as a tablet. Switching between laptop to tablet occurs very quickly and Windows 10 works very smoothly.
There is just one problem with the hinges- being very smooth, you will find the display falling down when you interact with the touch interface. During my usage, I had to hold the display while scrolling through some websites using the touch interface,
Though the laptop only weighs 1.32 kilograms, so, carrying it in one hand is very easy. It can also be kept on the desk in a tent shape. HP Spectre x360 features a 13.3-inch full HD (1920x1080) IPS anti-glare WLED backlit display. Picture quality produced by the display were bright and crisp, the viewing angles were also good.
Watching videos and playing games is a good experience with this laptop as the audio is powered by B&O speakers. Sound quality was good and fills the whole room. Also, there was no distortion in the sound with the full volume.
Performance
The laptop runs on Windows 10 Professional 64-bit operating system and powered by 7th generation Intel core i5 processor clocked at 2.7GHz. It has 16GB RAM with 512GB SSD storage. The device doesn’t have any GPU but casual gaming on it is also smooth.
HP has included a lot of connectivity options in their device which are well positioned. On the right are the volume rockers, two USB Type-C ports (with Thunderbolt 3) which are capable of charging the laptop.
On the left side are the power button, headphone jack and a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port. There is no SD card reader which could have been very useful for photographers to directly transfer the photos from their camera.
Other connectivity options include- Intel 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and Integrated 10/100/1000 GbE LAN.
HP Spectre x360 has a very good battery backup, after a full charge you will easily get 8.5 to 10 hours on moderate usage. The laptop also supports fast charging, it can get charged up to 50 per cent in 30 minutes.
Is it a good buy?
The HP Spectre x360 is a very smooth and solid laptop. Priced at Rs 157,290, this laptop is easily one of the best out there in the market in this price range.
HP’s Spectre x360 is the perfect example of how 2-in-1 luxury laptops should be made. HP’s Spectre series has always been on the top with best looks and decent performance.
While I was using the device, many people asked me is it better than an Apple MacBook Air?
I answered- Yes it stands out. HP Spectre x360 has got a lot more connectivity options than a MacBook, it can also transform into a Windows 10 tablet, it comes with a stylus, and talking about the performance- the laptop is smooth as fluid.
So, if you are somehow into flagship laptops and planning to buy one, blindly go for HP Spectre x360, you won’t be disappointed.
