A Mumbai resident took to social media to recount an unsettling ordeal involving harassment by loan recovery agents from HDFC Bank. Yash Mehta shared details of distress caused after a relative failed to meet HDFC Bank EMI payments, resulting in threatening calls directed at him.
Allegedly, an agent named Neha not only harassed Mehta but also verbally abused his father and grandfather in separate calls. Expressing concern over the breach of privacy, Mehta questioned the bank's authority to involve unrelated family members in the loan recovery process.
Mehta's post, shared on social media platform X, detailed the agent's threats and claimed that the agent possessed personal information, including his location and workplace. Expressing dismay, Mehta tagged HDFC Bank in his post, urging them to investigate the matter. He also mentioned plans to file a complaint with the RBI, accompanied by recordings of the interactions, emphasising that the agent used a false name, Neha.
Following the post's circulation, HDFC Bank issued an apology to Mehta, acknowledging the incident and promising a swift investigation. They assured Mehta that his concerns were noted and pledged to investigate the matter promptly for resolution.
The bank's response to Mehta's distressing encounter was shared on the same social media platform, expressing regret for the experience and confirming their commitment to investigate the issue promptly.
