Tech giant Google launched its smart speakers line up in India today (10 April). Google Home and Home Mini is Google’s answer to Amazon’s Echo smart speakers which debuted in India last year.
Google Home Price and Launch offers
Google Home and Home Mini are priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 4,499, respectively. The smart speakers are exclusively available on Flipkart starting today. They will also be made available at 750 other retail stores across India including Reliance Digital, Croma, Bajaj Electronics, Vijay Sales, Sangeetha, and Poorvika.
Google Home Mini is available in two colours – Chalk and Charcoal, while Google Home will be available in Chalk. Google also confirmed that a coral colour variant will also be coming soon.
Buyers purchasing Google Home or Google Home Mini through Flipkart will get a free JioFi router along with special offers on music subscriptions. On purchasing Google Home at Reliance Digital or MyJio stores, buyers will get a free JioFi router with 100GB of high-speed 4G data (worth Rs 2,499).
On purchasing through select Philips Hue and Croma outlets buyers will get a Philips Hue + Google Home Mini at a special bundled price.
Also, HDFC Bank credit card holders will get 10 percent cashback on purchasing Google’s smart speakers.
Google Home Specs and Features
Google Home comes in white colour with different base colours, by default it ships with chalk fabric base. It supports devices which works with Android 4.4 Kitkat or higher and iOS 9.1.
Google Home has a touch surface on top which also have LED lights. You can control volume levels and playback by touching the top surface. Also, the lights respond and change pattern according to the command you give.
There is only one physical button on the cylindrical speaker which mutes the Google Assistant. For connectivity, speaker has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth.
It supports HE-AAC, LC-AAC+, MP3, Vorbis, WAV (LPCM), and FLAC audio formats.
Google Home has a diameter of 96.4mm and 148.2mm of height, its power cable is 1.8 meters long. Talking about the weight, device weighs 477 grams and the power adapter weighs 130 grams.
You can wake Google Home by saying ‘Hey Google’ or ‘Okay Google’. To connect it with your phone, you’ll have to download Google Home from Play Store.
