Verzeo, an educational start-up, wants to bridge the skill gap between the existing skills in professionals and the demands of the employers.
"Companies that are short of workforce approach Verzeo, where they match the company’s business requirements with an appropriately trained workforce.", Vungarala V. Subrahmanyam, founder of Verzeo tells BW Businessworld.
How do you wish to take up skill development among students?
We have a vision to bridge the gap between the students and the industry. In this age of fast-paced development in different industries, competition in all disciplines is on the rise and at an unfathomable pace. We want to address this gap by providing knowledge, up-skilling and internships to students in the desired field. Our online workshops have facilitated to reach students in the remote locations of our nation and have an option to work from remote location for internships. We facilitate students to network with the most efficient trainers in their respective field of study, and thereby giving them an opportunity to develop skills and attitudes which might help them in the long run.
What were the learning outcomes you gained? What are the parameters of your assessment?
According to world economic forum, every student needs to have a minimum of 21 skills to be considered for being employed. Most of them are technical skills, and not all companies can afford to set up training centres. They expect the students to learn on the job through peers and mentors.
Through online workshops, we have enabled the students to make use of our resources and train themselves at cheaper prices as compared to the rest of the market.
For a student to be an intern at Verzeo we want them to go through the online course which they desire and based on their evaluation of the technical skill such as understanding of the concept, coding skills, timely completion of projects, we screen them on their behaviours and attitude before giving them internships.
What skills can the students acquire through the training program?
Through our workshops and training programs -
How efficiently updated is the curriculum for skill training and students job ready?
The courses and training programs offer immensely updated courses like artificial intelligence, cloud computing and many others which are included in the 21 courses provided, which can keep the students updated always and every time. The curriculum is designed looking at the existing gap in the market, which is through the skills and knowledge of the recent graduates, students and requirement of the industry. We update the curriculum once in 6 months based on the inputs we receive from our patrons, mentors and academicians
What is the employability factor for students that have undergone skill development and training?
For us, if a student undergoes practical training and attains the required skills, he/she is likely to get 8/10 jobs they have applied for. We wish to achieve 90 percent employability by providing training for in-demand skills such as AI, Data Science, Machine Learning etc. The concept of internships is to provide a platform for holistic development like the development of behavioural and technical skills.
How can students avail the skill development programs?
They should refer to the internet and should be active quite fairly and check for the skills needed in the industry and register them with our platform to attain the skills regarding the same. Students can avail skill development by taking up internships; we offer internships not only at our office but at various companies who have partnered with us and select interns who fit their requirements.
