To stay relevant in the internet age, there is an increased focus on continuous re-skilling. What are your views on this?
For the workforce today, simply keeping up with technology is no longer enough. One must master these technologies by gaining knowledge and skills relevant to the industries they are working in. The opportunities for both the current as well as future workforce will be massive, granted that they are rightly equipped with the skills to take on emerging job roles in these domains.
Approximately 1 lakh jobs are expected to be created in India by the end of 2018 within the data science and analytics domains, but the shortage of skilled talent may prove to be a hindrance to effectively meeting this demand. Hence, upskilling and reskilling will be imperative for the country’s workforce to ensure their relevance and job security in a changing technological environment.
How can technology help bridge the skill gap in the employees?
Organisations could invest in education technology like enterprise-wide learning management systems (LMS), provide access to MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and content for their employees to help them gain new skills. With MOOCs, employees can access multiple online courses and a huge amount of content, making it easier for them to learn anytime and anywhere.
Furthermore, organisations can collaborate with professional skilling platforms to train employees across all levels in new skills pertaining to their respective job roles. This way, employees will not only be equipped with industry-relevant skills, but also ensure better job security for themselves and better career growth opportunities.
How e-learning is getting its sheen back?
E-learning makes the entire process of learning more interactive and collaborative, with a combination of the best elements of classroom pedagogy and online tools to enable anytime learning. E-learning has always been capable of overcoming the limitations of our traditional education systems, but it has not been leveraged adequately by traditional educational institutions. New-age technology-driven edtech software and programs are easily scalable to accommodate a large number of subjects, learners, and vast amount of content. This is one of the main reasons why higher educational institutions in the country must invest in the digitisation of professional and skill-based courses.
How AI is being used in the system?
