The Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech on Saturday announced price cuts for their respective Covid-19 vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin. The move comes a day before the beginning of the drive to administer precautionary Covid-19 vaccine dose to all adults. The Centre had announced that the precaution dose of Covid vaccines will be available to everyone aged above 18 years at the private vaccination centres from April 10
The Serum Institute of India has cut the rates of Covishield from ₹600 to ₹225 per dose, while Bharat Biotech has brought down the price of Covaxin from ₹1,200 to ₹225.
Earlier on Saturday, The Centre told the states that the precaution dose will be of the same COVID-19 vaccine as the one used for the administration of the first two doses and that private vaccination centres can charge up to a maximum of Rs 150 per dose as service charge over and above the cost of the vaccine.
