The government will take all the mandatory actions for the increase in the production of pulses in the country by helping the farmers and will also support the producers for the seamless import of the produce, said Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs on Thursday.
While addressing an event with the Pulses Association of India, Singh said that the country is expected to witness enhanced production of pulses from Myanmar as the fresh arrivals have started.
"The sowing area for the production of pulses has been increased in African countries, indicating towards the compatible glow of pulses imports and can improve the issues related to availability," he said.
He urged the increased production and import of pulses including tur, masoor and urad to be significant.
Singh informed that th department of consumer affairs holds several meetings with the pulses association of India and global exporting nations to discuss the crucial domestic and international issues related to policy making, schemes and strategic plans for the smooth execution of pulses for Indian consumers at affordable prices for the coming next year.
