CapitaLand Investment (CLI) has announced the appointment of Sumit Gera as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of India Business Park, effective 21 May.
Simultaneously, Gauri Shankar Nagabhushanam has been named as the CEO (Designate) of CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT), which is Asia’s first India-focused property trust listed in Singapore. He will succeed Sanjeev Dasgupta, the current CEO of CLINT, around August 2024.
As part of CLI’s succession planning, Gera has taken over the position from Nagabhushanam, who is transitioning to lead CLINT. Gera's primary responsibility will be to spearhead growth initiatives aimed at expanding the business parks portfolio in India, a crucial aspect of CLI's growth strategy in the country. With a tenure at CapitaLand Group since March 2016, Gera brings substantial experience, having served in various significant roles across different business units, including heading Portfolio Management for CLINT and leading CLI’s India private funds business. Prior to joining CLI, Gera led private equity real estate investments in India and Australia at Partners Group AG.
Sanjeev Dasgupta, CEO of CLI India and CLINT, expressed confidence in the leadership appointments, emphasising the company's dedication to nurturing talent to drive business growth in India, a core market for CLI. He highlighted Gera's extensive experience in portfolio management and investments, underscoring his instrumental role in enhancing asset performance in India, particularly in driving sustainability initiatives.
Meanwhile, Nagabhushanam is set to succeed Dasgupta as CEO of CLINT in August 2024. Dasgupta, in his capacity as CEO of CLI India, oversees the growth and management of CLI’s operations in India across various sectors including business parks, logistics and data centers.
CLI, headquartered and listed in Singapore, is a prominent global real asset manager with a strong presence in Asia. As of 31 March 2024, CLI managed assets worth SUSD 134 billion and funds worth SUSD 100 billion, spanning across Asia Pacific, Europe and the USA.
