On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the Union Budget?
I would like rate this budget at 8.
Do you feel this is an election/populist budget or a developmental budget considering the elections next year?
It is a developmental budget and the by-product of this will automatically affect the elections as our Finance Minister Arun Jaitley under the able guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has targeted three sectors- agriculture, MSME and Infrastructure. Hence, Jaitley has rounded up the entire budget in this pyramid which will create employment, create demand in the economy and huge investments going in the rural infrastructure will create demand for the rural people. Thus, overall it is a great budget. Also, the Government’s target of 8 per cent growth seems achievable to me.
Is the jobs / employment issue adequately addressed in this Budget?
This budget is well-focussed on employment as our Finance Minister has concentrated on three sectors- agriculture, MSME and infrastructure which employ a vast pool of people, thus, by addressing these three sectors, the Government has addressed the issue of employment generation as well.
Is the rural distress/agri crisis addressed well in this Budget?
Well, on the face of it I looks like it but there could be many more deeper issues which we will come to know as we go through the budget print thoroughly.
Summarize the Union Budget in a few lines?
It is a budget which is going to cater to the need of India as it will take our country to a new trajectory, a consistent growth path provided such kind of budgets are repeated. I think we can have a consistent growth path like China had after 1989.
