How has the role of HR changed with the shift in technology; in terms of better hiring for business development?
Technology, true to its nature, has brought along with it, massive disruptive innovations that have further generated innumerable possibilities for businesses to grow. HR too, has an array of options to dramatically alter the way they recruit. Machine Learning (ML), Robotic Interviews, and Bots have given them the edge to improve hiring efficiencies by over 90 percent.
How has employee engagement changed over the years?
With applications such as Facebook Twitter, WhatsApp and many more, employees are now used to instant collaborations, transparency and empowerment. Information is readily available at their fingertips, and they can now expect the same at their workplace. Employee Engagement is not just an annual program or an event; it is a continuous process and that too almost real-time.
Has the hiring pattern changed with job roles being re-defined?
Job roles are undergoing a major change, with technology and changing business scenarios. The need for multi-tasking or cross functional roles has emerged and this indicates that traditional job definitions are undergoing a massive change. Department or function based roles are giving way to customer-centric and team based structures. Hiring through referrals and social equations also is gaining traction.
What are some of the challenges in the HR industry?
HR runs the risk of being perceived as a permanent cost centre. In today’s world, where all of us agree that employee performance is one of the key differentiators between successful and not-so-successful organisations, HR has a great opportunity to help transform these organisations and help achieve business outcomes. They should be able to sit in boardrooms and be a part of the task force, advising the board on how to improve EBIDTA margins, how to increase top-line growth, and how to drive performance.
How has the role of HR changed in reaching out to employees?
With technology constantly evolving, HR needs to continuously come up with newer ways of engaging with employees. Also, they now have to empower line managers with innovative tools to strengthen their rapport with respective teams across the organisation.
How are recruiters enhancing the quality of recruitment?
Using ML, AI and social tools, recruiters are now well equipped to seek and hire better talent. These tools further help with better predictability of the success of a candidate.
