Bharat Biotech, a leading Indian biotech company, is in the process of developing a vaccine against the Covid-19 virus in the form of nasal drops.
Krishna Ella, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Biotech, shared an update on the vaccine while talking to media houses. He said that it is expected to initiate phase 1 trials of the intranasal vaccine for Covid-19 next month. He also said that his firm is setting up two more facilities for the manufacturing of the vaccines.
Bharat Biotech is also developing Covaxin, which is a vaccine against the infectious Corona Virus and is undergoing phase three trials currently. The nasal vaccine being developed by the same organisation will be ready by next year as it is going to be a single-dose vaccine.
However, the new Covid-19 vaccine has the potential to become the game-changer as the covid-19 vaccine administration thinks that injecting the vaccine is protecting the lower lung only. Therefore, a nasal vaccine can protect both the upper and the lower lung and can prevent the transmission of the virus as well as the infection.
