British high-end luxury car-maker Bentley launched its first SUV Bentayga in India on Friday (April 22) at a starting price of Rs 3.85 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The car is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine, making it the fastest and the most powerful SUV in the world.
The company said they have received an overwhelming response from Indian buyers. “The pre-booking response of the car is amazing. Our sales is expected to touch three digit figure by the end of this year,” Satya Bagla, Managing Director- Exclusive Motors. The first delivery of the car will take about 2 weeks.
When asked about how long buyers will have to wait after placing the order, Bagla said it usually takes about 5 months for a Bentley car to be delivered after the order is placed. “These cars are hand crafted in our headquarters in Crewe, UK to suit buyer’s preferences. The level of luxury in Bentayga is unmatched. So it takes a little time to give final shape to the car,” said Bagla.
Bagla also said that the company is looking to expand Bentley's presence in India by setting up a new showroom with service facility in Hyderabad, which will be opened in about two months. At present the company has outlets in Delhi and Mumbai.
This year Bentley is producing about 2,700 units of the Bentayga and will achieve 3,000 units by next year. Bagla said that Betley’s other cars in India like Continental GT and Flying Spur which are priced Rs 3.55 crore onwards have been very well received in the Indian marketing, witnessing a growth of 15 per cent over the years.
Talking about the specifications, the Bentayga is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine that churns out 600 bhp along with a maximum torque of 900Nm. The car is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and can achieve 0-100Km/h in just 4.1 seconds. The Bentley Bentayga's top-speed is rated at 301Km/h.
