Apple has officially announced the red colour variant of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Last year, Apple also announced a red colour variant of iPhone 7. Unlike last year’s iPhone 7 models which had white front, the red coloured iPhone 8 models will have black front panels.
Apple is working to support product (RED), an organisation which works to fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa. Apple will donate some part of amount from their RED phones to the organisation.
The new red colour models of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are priced same as the other colour variants.
Apple has started pre-orders of new phones in selected markets and will go on sale from April 13. Red variants of iPhone 8 models will arrive in India from May.
Both iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are available in two storage variants of 64GB and 256GB. Other than storage, both handsets are available in four colour options of- gold, silver, space grey, and red.
iPhone 8
iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch retina HD (1334x750) LCD IPS display with the fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. It sports a 12- megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, and up to 5x digital zoom. On the front is a 7-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture and retina flash.
iPhone 8 runs on the new iOS 11 and powered by A11 bionic which Apple claims is their most powerful and smartest chip. It features a six-core CPU design with two performance cores that are 25 percent faster and four efficiency cores that are 70 percent faster than the A10 Fusion. The handset comes in two storage variants of 64GB and 256GB.
The battery in iPhone 8 lasts about same as the iPhone 7 which give up to 14 hours of talk-time, 12 hours of internet usage. The battery can be charged up to 50 per cent in 30 minutes and supports wireless charging. The smartphone is IP67 water and dust resistant.
The handset measures 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3mm and weighs 148 grams. Connectivity options are – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS, single SIM (nano), 4G VoLTE. There is no 3.5mm audio-jack so the audio is routed through headphone jack adaptor.

iPhone 8 Plus features a 5.5-inch retina HD (1920x1080) LCD IPS display with fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. It sports a 12- megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, and up to 5x digital zoom. On the front is a 7-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture and retina flash
It sports a dual 12-megapixels rear camera where one works as a wide-angle lens and other as a telephoto lens with apertures f/1.8 and f/2.8 respectively. The camera has OIS, Potrait mode, and quad LED true tone flash. On the front is a 7-megapixels TrueDepth camera with retina flash, auto image stabilization, and f/2.2 aperture.
