AO Smith Corporation, a leading global water technology company, has finalised the acquisition of Pureit, a water purification business of Hindustan Unilever. Pureit, a prominent brand in residential water solutions, adds to A. O. Smith's premium offerings, particularly enhancing its presence in India and other South Asian markets.
"Pureit complements our premium brands and strengthens our e-commerce channels," said Kevin J. Wheeler, Chairman and CEO of A. O. Smith. "This acquisition aligns with our strategy to scale our operations, expand our premium product portfolio, and enhance our distribution footprint."
Since its 2004 launch in Chennai, Pureit has expanded across India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Mexico, delivering accessible water solutions with a diversified range of devices, filters, and spares.
Parag Kulkarni, President of A. O. Smith Indian Water Products, highlighted the synergies between the two companies, stating, "Our shared focus on innovation and premium products will drive our brand forward across South Asia."
Sreenivas Narayanan, General Manager of Pureit, echoed this optimism, noting that the merger enables Pureit to continue its mission with added resources and technology. "Together, we will set new benchmarks in water purification, ensuring more advanced and accessible solutions for India," he said.
The acquisition was initially announced earlier this year, with A. O. Smith indicating that it would not significantly impact earnings in its first year.
