As the world celebrates Mental Health Awareness Day on 10th October, I’m thankful that the topic of mental health is being discussed on the global level. But there’s still a long way to go in order to understand, emphasize and help the issues surrounding mental health.
The facts and statistics surrounding mental health in India give little hope to us. Over 150 million Indians are in need of mental health care in India but the facilities provided to them are obsolete and difficult to obtain.
Being a doctor of alternative therapy and a long standing champion of mental health awareness, I’ve spent the length of my career in helping people unleash their inner potential and cope with the mental health issues they are dealing with.
BODY, MIND, SPIRIT
I’m a firm believer and practitioner of aligning your mind, body and spirit as one. I know these words are more of an advertising catch phrase for yoga and spa. But the point I’m making is that your being is more than a physical being... it is a divine being. By focusing on the body, mind and spirit we are giving our being multi-dimensional aspects. Many of us do not give any thought to the connection between these parts of our lives.
We learn so much in our lives, we go through school, build careers, make homes, we run about our busy lives. Ever day we have over a billion multiple thoughts on how we think and how we feel without realizing the communication that is happening between our body, mind and spirit. How else would you then align your thoughts, your feelings, and your goals?
You have heard of the law of attraction, like attracts like? That is mainly because of your vibrational alignment. Your current environment is a vibrational match to your frequency. You are always sending out a message to the universe, so you will attract whatever you need to through your vibrational quality.
If you look around, what you want and what you have created in terms of your careers, relationships and your health, it is a reflection on what is going on in your vibration. It is as simple as it can get. Whatever it is that you have wanted so bad but are not getting. Maybe it is a loving relationship, income, job, new venture. If what you desire does not match to what you have, then you are not aligned.
I’ve personally overcome a whole lot of drama to align my vibrations.
It wasn’t a smooth sailing journey, but it helped me realize how we perceive our lives. Changing my perspective helped me be the person I needed to be.
I believe that sound mental health does stem from sound thoughts and actions, which have helped me find my inner peace.
How can one start to align themselves?
By Knowing Yourself.
Sounds so simple. And how does one do the simplest things without getting entwined with the other’s outlook. It is simple because all you need to do is accept the fact that you have been hurt in the past or you have had an experience where there was sorrow, pain and things that harmed you.
Make your peace with that and the lessons you learnt from those experiences, rather than letting the hurt stay. Once you accept your truth, your vibration changes.
What typically happens is when you think you have got the ideal job and suddenly there is a change. You have to do things you have not done before, it’s an exciting challenge but you also feel that you cannot cope.
Those thoughts that this is not what you settled for, creep into you. And you may begin to dream of your true passions, or careers that would bring you joy, not dread. Your higher self receives this message and will vibrate and align to your thoughts where you dream of financial independence. The more you think about the better possibilities, the more aligned you will get.
But you will do one of two things. You will either continue to entertain those thoughts that match your desire. Or you will begin to think of all the reasons why that desire cannot be real. The latter happens to most of us. And so we drag ourselves around our jobs.
Know that the power to overcome lies in you and in your hand only. This is the Book of Your Life and you are the creator, the author and the driver of this journey.
The Solution?
Let me say something that might be hard to wrap around but it is the absolute truth. If you experience any true desire, then it is absolutely available for you to experience. There is nothing that is a figment of your imagination. If you have thought of it, you can experience it.
So often you have had inspirational thoughts and you have got excited about it. But more often than not you have let it go because you have had resistant thoughts. Those resistant thoughts come from your ego. Your ego so far has kept you safe all your life. The primary purpose of your ego is to keep you away from harm. The moment you think of something different, away from your comfort zone, your ego kicks in. Although even if you followed your new ideas, nothing negatively dramatic would happen to you. But your ego perceives unchartered territory as a threat to your well-being.
It’s these fear-based thoughts that you have around your inspirational thoughts, fears around money, survival and so on that stop your mind to align with your spirit. Our spirit has a vibrational alignment with our desire but our mind is not.
I usually help with the Last In First Out thought process called the LIFO system, which is effective. Before you sleep visualize your desire, give it shape and form, see yourself doing the action, then feel the excitement around it, feel the happiness. Repeat this thrice in your mind and go to sleep. This is a powerful manifestation tool.
