The low cost subsidiary of Air India, Air India Express on Sunday (May 15) started its direct daily services from the national capital, New Delhi to United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The airline will operate two non-stop daily flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi from Delhi.
Ashwini Lohani, the chairman and managing director of Air India, along with K Shyam Sundar, the CEO of Air India Express, flagged off the inaugural flight to Dubai, with 166 passengers from New Delhi on Sunday morning.
The daily flight to Abu Dhabi will be effective from Monday (May 16, 2016).
Daily flights, IX 141 Delhi to Dubai will depart at 09.05 am and IX 115, Delhi to Abu Dhabi will depart at 8.50 pm.
Air India Express is going to deploy a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with capacity to carry 189 passengers on these sectors.
The Kochi-based Air India Express, also operates from Jaipur, Varanasi, Amritsar and Lucknow in northern India apart from other bases in southern and western India.
The airline offers cost effective travel from 13 destinations in the country to 13 destinations in the Middle East and South East Asia.
With the introduction of these new services, passengers could have a better and cost effective choice on this sector from Delhi to UAE.
India’s second largest airline Jet Airways, also operates on these routes, giving a tough competition to Air India and its subsidiary.
