The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), on Wednesday, appointed B N Gangadhar, President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board, as Chairperson of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Gangadhar, formerly the Director of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, served as the officiating chairman of the NMC since September last year, following the end of S C Sharma's tenure.
The committee also appointed Sanjay Behari, Director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, as the new President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board.
In addition, Anil D'Cruz, Director (Oncology) of Apollo Hospital, Mumbai, was named a whole-time member of the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board.
Rajendra Achyut Badwe, Professor Emeritus at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, was appointed as a part-time member of the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board. His term will last for two years or until he reaches the age of 70, whichever is sooner, the ministry stated.
