During Wipro's Q2 FY24 press briefing on Wednesday, Thierry Delaporte, CEO and Managing Director, shared details on the company's efforts in artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI (GenAI). He highlighted a significant surge in the number of active GenAI projects.
"The number of GenAI active projects has doubled than just one quarter ago," said Delaporte, underscoring the accelerating adoption and integration of GenAI solutions into Wipro's portfolio.
Delaporte also spoke on the company's accomplishments and the impact of GenAI across various sectors. He said, "We're very excited by the opportunities GenAI presents, and we're investing in new use cases, solutioning for clients, as well as upskilling our employees because we want to take a leadership position in this space."

The CEO revealed that Wipro has trained 1.8 lakh employees in basic GenAI principles. Personalised learning pathways have been introduced to foster specialised talent with deeper technical expertise.
Further, the company has forged alliances to enhance AI learning pathways, thereby ensuring the continuous growth of its employees in this dynamic field.

Integration Across Functions
GenAI is rapidly being integrated into Wipro's processes, solutions, and offerings, resulting in significant productivity gains across diverse business functions, including HR, marketing and sales.
"In the HR function, our teams are seeing significant productivity gains by using GenAI for candidate background verification. In marketing, we're using GenAI for content generation and translation – tasks that used to take hours earlier now takes minutes. In sales, we're implementing GenAI to do market research, improve sales collaboration and also generate RFI responses," Delaporte revealed.
He further said that GenAI is now an integral part of every client conversation, with rapid adoption in healthcare, consumer, financial services and technology sectors. Success stories include a US-based health insurer, which has reportedly achieved 30 to 40 per cent reduction in operational costs through a GenAI-based chatbot.
