Indian conglomerate, Adani Group has reportedly bagged two contracts worth Rs 13,888 crore from a state-owned discom for smart meters installation, according to a media report.
The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) awarded a total of six tenders to install smart meters, of which two have been bagged by the Adani Group, the report said additionally.
Adani’s sizeable presence in the power sector and its recently bagged contract of Rs 1,000 crore to install smart meters in BEST undertaking areas in Mumbai, will boost the company as an advanced metering infrastructure service provider for smart prepaid metering in MSEDCL.
The two zonal contracts awarded to the conglomerate include Bhandup, Kalyan and Konkan with a spread of 63.44 lakh meters and Baramati and Pune which is 52.45 lakh meters.
Meanwhile, the Letter of Award has been issued to the successful firms, as per the communique.
Other entities awarded with orders include NCC in two zones. Two entities Montecarlo and Genus have won one contract respectively.
