1,000 Mahindra EVs Power Lithium Urban Technologies' Fleet
Bengaluru-based corporate transport service startup Lithium Urban Technologies and Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) said on Thursday, January 9, 2020, that through their partnership they have inducted 1,000 Electric Vehicles in the fleet so far. Having clocked 100 million ekms, with over 500 Mahindra EVs running more than 1 lakh ekms, this partnership is further aimed to transform employee transportation solution in India and spur electric mobility adoption in the country. Infact 75+ Mahindra EVs have even clocked over 2 lakh ekms, a significant achievement in an otherwise nascent EV industry.
Speaking about the partnership Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra and Mahindra said, "Our partnership with Lithium Urban Technologies is aimed at increasing the large scale adoption of EVs and bringing a positive change in consumers' daily commute. Going forward Mahindra's expanding portfolio of EVs in both 3W and 4W across multiple points will transform the way India travels.”
On its part, Sanjay Krishnan Co-Founder and CEO of Lithium Urban said, "The partnership that started off with the purchase of The Mahindra E20 in 2015, has now touched the magical figure of 1,000 Mahindra's EVs as part of our EV fleet. As a result, we have been able to achieve 100 million ekms, which equals adding over 120+ Cubbon parks to India."
Goenka said since the government was giving serious thought to shared mobility, M&M is working with multiple State governments and some Municipalities. Goenka mentioned that his company will be launching an e-KUV at the next month’s Auto Expo and an electric XUV-300 in the calendar year 2021. He said he was not focusing on the e-Bus segment for the moment. He also shared that other
than the battery cells, everything is “locally made”. The company has already invested Rs 500 crore for the R&D centre in Bengaluru.
