‘Partnerships Help Deliver On Flinders’ Mission’

How does Flinders University provide an adequate platform to international students for learning?

At Flinders University in Adelaide in Australia, we’ve had a long experience of welcoming international students to our campus. So that experience has helped us form a learning environment that really assists students, not just in their learning, but in their preparation of what comes after life at Flinders University. And much of what we do, relates to preparing students for a life at work, through our curriculum, and in our curriculum, many, if not all of our courses have elements of work-integrated learning, practicums, placements, and this is something that we have been focused on for a very long time. So it’s really paramount for us, that our students are international students who are well prepared, both academically and also practically, because today’s employers are really looking for that edge.

How is the scholarship for which Flinders University is collaborating with BW Businessworld structured?

We are very proud of our relationship with BW Businessworld and are very much looking forward to launching this new 100 per cent scholarship for students here in India, seeking to obtain a cutting-edge post-graduate business qualification at Flinders University. It’s a full-fee scholarship, valued at approximately AUD 65,000. It will be rewarded to a successful applicant for our semester starting in August 2018.

In terms of study areas and courses offered, what is unique about what is offered at Flinders University?

Flinders is a comprehensive university. We have all sorts of areas from medicine to engineering to business to health and social sciences and creative arts. Of our 26,000 students, we have a large cohort doing health. Flinders has a medical school. Adjacent to our campus, we have two hospitals, and our business school is focussing really on two areas. One is the traditional suites of business and commerce, but we also have a really strong focus on entrepreneurship and innovation. We formed a partnership with Fox Business School, Temple University in the US, and through our partnership we are now offering a full suite of courses in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship. We are in partnership also with our own New Venture Institute which is an incubator and business startup facilitator, which is connected to our university.

To what extent do collaborations help Flinders University?

Consistent with the Flinders vision and strategic plan, partnerships help Flinders deliver on its mission. We want to have partnerships that deliver impact and value for our students, and we focus on education and research, of course.
