The American Chamber of Commerce in India (Amcham) brought together industry leaders, government officials and social sector organisations to discuss effective Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration between businesses, government and nonprofits to maximise the impact of CSR efforts. Participants emphasised the need to integrate CSR and philanthropy with business strategies for sustainable development, particularly focusing on environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations.
A key takeaway was the significant contribution of US firms to India's overall CSR spending. Experts discussed challenges faced by nonprofits in scaling their operations and suggested strategies for better resource utilisation. The conference also explored the role of digital public infrastructure (DPI) in development, underlining the importance of centralised data systems and capacity building for social impact, especially in rural areas.
The discussions concluded with a focus on directing CSR funds towards underdeveloped regions. Participants emphasised the need for inclusive development strategies that consider regional aspirations and involve stakeholders in driving positive change.
