The transition to a net-zero world is one of the toughest challenges mankind has faced. It calls for nothing less than a complete transformation of how we consume, produce and move about.
"We are in the biggest transformative shift of our time - the biggest change since the industrial revolution. We are in the middle of energy transition. Every single thing around us is based on the way we generate electricity and since we are talking about moving to different forms of energy at this point in time, every single associated aspect is going to fundamentally change. Because it will have to account for the kind of carbon emmissions that are actually generated when we do each one of these things," says Namrata Rana, Director - Strategy and Brand, Futurescape.
"This means that all of us now need to understand what the next 10 years is going to be like. Because the transition has accelerated," Rana adds.
Discussing about Rana's book 'Shift: Decisions for a Net Zero World', Mohit Gupta, Co Founder, Frob.social – Friends of Books, says that this book gives us all those very significant steps that are important for future. If we follow ESG, we follow the basic norms of life.
"The book also mentions a very important aspect around - if we have to grow more food, if we need more sustained amount of food - we have to go back to the old ways of agriculture," Gupta adds.
Rana and Gupta were engaging in a conversation at Indian Business Literature Festival, India's Largest Non Fiction Books Festival & Award.
