Passenger traffic at Mumbai airport surged by 16 per cent year-on-year to reach 52.8 million in FY24, as stated by the airport operator on Monday. The city's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), owned by the Adani Group-AAI, had managed 43.9 million passengers in the previous fiscal year ending March 2023. The total passenger count includes both arrivals and departures.
Out of the total footfall of 52.8 million, 26 million were arriving passengers, while 26.7 million were departing passengers, the operator reported.
The increase was observed in both domestic and international passenger traffic, according to the operator.
In FY24, the growth in air traffic movements (ATMs) stood at 12 per cent, totaling 3,24,972 compared to 2,90,387 in the previous year, according to CSMIA.
Furthermore, the total number of bags processed at the facility during FY24 surpassed 40.7 million, marking a 31 per cent year-on-year growth.
In FY23, the number of bags processed was 31 million, the operator added.
