Dubai economy and online retail management consultant Global Retail Academy have formed a strategic partnership to launch the Retail Centre of Excellence as part of the Department of Economic Development (DED)’s focus on promoting innovation, excellence and customer happiness in Dubai’s flagship retail sector.
The centre will become a driving force for retailers and retail entrepreneurs by encouraging retail growth in Dubai with the support of global experts, enabling Dubai to become a global centre for retailing. The centre will provide cost-effective, Dubai-centric online and offline retail training and education to retail professionals and organisations. It’s also aimed to create a forum for retail innovation that will drive talent, improve profitability, increase efficiency and maintain consistency in operational excellence and service standards within the retail industry.
“Dubai’s fast-expanding retail sector requires the best of talent considering the diversity of brands, customers and people employed in the sector as well as the strategic importance of the sector as a major contributor to the GDP and the emirate’s reputation as an attractive residential and tourist destination,” commented Shaikha Ahmad Al Bishri, director of the Business Excellence Centre in DED.
“The centre will be a qualitative addition to the efforts led by the Department of Economic Development to bring the best international practices into retailing in Dubai and make the experience of shopping in Dubai a pleasure,” added Al Bishri.
Prakash Menon, executive director, Global Retail Academy, said, “Our vision is to create world-class retail leaders who will make a positive difference. Looking at how the retail industry continues to evolve, I believe the combination of technical and adaptive skills will be the game changer in the 21st century. The Global Retail Academy together with the Dubai economy will offer a comprehensive retail career development, acceleration and entrepreneurship curriculum through the Retail Centre of Excellence which is not available in any university or business school in the world.”
