Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stones for 15 significant National Highway projects in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. The projects, with a cumulative cost of Rs 8,038 crore and a total length of 499 km, mark a significant stride in the development of the state's infrastructure.
The unveiled projects encompass a wide range of developments aimed at enhancing the state's connectivity and infrastructure. Notable initiatives include the widening of the Ayodhya bypass section, the 4-lane expansion of the Budhni to Shahganj section, and the 4-lane expansion of Shahganj to Bari. Additionally, there is a 2-lane construction of Morena, Ambah, and Porsa bypass, along with the 2-lane construction of Sheopur Gorsa from the Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan border.
The widening of the Budhni to Shahganj section is anticipated to significantly improve connectivity within the state. This particular stretch will connect Sehore and Raisen, linking three major highways in Madhya Pradesh. The expansion of the Ayodhya bypass section aims to alleviate traffic congestion for passengers travelling from Kanpur to Bhopal.
The infrastructural developments through these projects are crucial in positioning Madhya Pradesh as a burgeoning industrial and agricultural hub. The construction, reconstruction, and widening of roads are expected to facilitate smoother transportation and bolster economic activities in the region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gadkari emphasised the government's commitment to robust infrastructure development and the creation of a well-connected and modern transportation network in the country. The National Highway projects in Madhya Pradesh are a testament to this commitment, aiming to boost economic growth, enhance connectivity, and improve overall accessibility for the residents of the state.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Assembly Narendra Singh Tomar, State President of Madhya Pradesh BJP V.D. Sharma, State Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, and State Minister Rakesh Singh.
