Zerodha Founder and CEO Nithin Kamath took to LinkedIn on Monday to reveal a personal health challenge he has been facing. In his post, dated 26 February, Kamath disclosed that approximately six weeks ago, he experienced a mild stroke.
He attributed potential causes to a combination of factors including the passing of his father, inadequate sleep, exhaustion, dehydration and excessive exercise.
Despite maintaining a regimen of fitness and self-care, Kamath said he found himself grappling with the aftermath of the stroke. Initially experiencing significant symptoms such as a pronounced droop in his face and difficulty with basic tasks like reading and writing, he has since made notable progress in his recovery journey.
Kamath noted that although he still deals with a minor droop in his face, he expressed gratitude for his improved ability to read and write, along with a heightened sense of mental clarity.
Acknowledging the necessity for a period of recovery, Kamath shared insights from his doctor who stressed the importance of recognising when it's time to "shift gears down a bit."
Despite the setback, Kamath remains determined and resilient. He anticipates a full recovery within the next three to six months.
"I've gone from having a big droop in the face and not being able to read or write to having a slight droop but being able to read and write more. From being absent-minded to more present-minded. So, 3 to 6 months for full recovery," wrote Kamath in his post.
The response to Kamath's post has been overwhelmingly supportive, with many expressing well wishes for his speedy recovery. PeepalCo Group CEO Ashish Singhal and Capitalmind CEO Deepak Shenoy were among few from the Indian business community wishing Kamath speedy recovery on social media.
