Uber has introduced a new ‘multi-destination’ feature in India to provide convenient, reliable, and affordable rides at the push of a button. The multi-destination feature enables riders to add multiple stops along their route. Earlier riders can only select two locations i.e. Location and Destination from point A to B.
This feature is very convenient as earlier, you and your friends had to go to a destination together, and you used to meet up at a single location for the cab. Now that’s not required. Though we can always tell the driver to take us to a stop before reaching the destination sometimes the Uber driver can refuse so Uber came up with its multi-destination feature which is more convenient.
With this new feature, you can add up to two stops along your route. To use this feature, tap on “+” next to “Where to” box and add the addresses of additional stops en route. You can also add, change, or remove a stop during your ride. This feature is not available for Uber Pool riders. Waiting time for each stop is up to 3 minutes, the fare will be charged for anything longer than that. You may split your fare, but it will be for the entire ride, not split by the cost to each stop.
Uber might get an upper hand in the industry, post the launch of this feature, as no other company in the ride-sharing segment has such an option in their apps. Earlier this year, Lyft introduced adding extra stops in its app which gave it an advantage for riders.
Whether it’s a ride to the airport and the rider needs to pick up a friend en route, it’s easier than ever to pick up and drop off your friends or family along the way. This takes just a few taps on the app when requesting a ride.
