In an interaction with Urvi Shrivastav, Editorial Lead, BW ESG, BW Businessworld; Shri Jayendra Puri Swamy Of Rajarajeshwari Bengaluru speaks about Shri Kailash Ashrama Mahasamsthana, his journey towards spiritualism, and 'The Pyramid Of Health'.
Please tell us about yourself and your organisation?
In Bengaluru, we have an organisation by the name Shri Kailash Ashrama Mahasamsthana. The founder of this organisation is our guruji, Sri Sivaratnapuri Trichi Mahaswami in the year 1960. Swamiji came to Bengaluru from Tirunalveli, Tamil Nadu. He had performed tapasya in Trichi, which is how his name came to be known in its form. He established the Mahasansthama. The goal of Swamiji was the convey to the masses the beautiful aspects of the Indian culture, based on the Vedas, Agamas, and Puranas, and including the correct meaning of some words like tantra as well. Rajarajeshwari Devi was the deity Swamiji used to worship.
Many people around the world know about Saraswati, Laxmi, Parvati, or Durga Mata. However, very few know about Rajarajeshwari, who is also known as the Adi Devi, and she is shakti personified. She is also known as the mother of Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara. She is also the mother of Durag, Laxmi, and Saraswati. The origin of Rajarajeshwari can be traced directly to Lalita Sahasranama Sutra, which is part of the Brahmana Purana. Swamiji settles in Trichi, but went to find his guru. He found his guru in Sri Sivpuri baba who was 137 years old in Kathmandu. Then baba ordained swamiji that he goes to the south and establish his ashram. He came to Bengaluru, to a place called Kenchenahalli which is a famous place due to Atri rishi and his consort. Atri rishi and Anasuya are the parents of Dattatreya bhagwan, bhagwan Chandra, and also Durwasa rishi. That is where they lived and performed pooja to Rajarajeshwari.
Swamiji came to this place and established Kailash Ashram Mahasamsthana. He names it so because he went to Kailash and came back. Today is 62 years old, and the temple was established in 1978. By the time we reached early 2000s, the entire town was called Rajarashwari Nagar. 31 electoral wards were comprised in Rajarajeshwari. Many people who are going to become priests in their lives, and also swamis congregate at that location. We follow a similar tradition of Adi Shankaracharya, even though it is not identical. We have given ourselves the title of ‘Puri', which is one of the dashanamas, that is, one of the ten names for sanyasis. Kirta, Vana, Ashrama, Aranya, Giri, Parvata, Sagar, Saraswati, Bahrati, Puri are the ten names respectively. Additionally, we have branches in Karanataka and Tamil Nadu.
How did you develop an interest in spiritualism?
Initially, I was a regular person with a regular life, which we call the past life of a sannyasi. I come from a strong spiritual background due to my family, but I did not touch any related texts at all. I had a regular formal education in the beginning like anyone else. Around the age of 20, there was a slow movement in the mind which cannot be explained in words. There was a receding attraction to the worldly life, where everything is beautiful but the inclination is not there to go towards worldly life. During the 1980s, when I used to travel to tourist sports, while others used to travel to tourist spots, I only visited temples. By the time I was 26, I had concluded mentally I had been chosen for this life. I met my master at the age of 27, and thereafter my life is what you see today as a monk.
What are some of the initiatives undertaken by your organisation?
We have a Veda pathshala (school) which is a place where male children study the Vedas. The specialty of our pathshala is that we do not have any caste barrier. Children is between 6 to 20 years of age are welcomed with open arms. The parents bring the children to us, and register them. These children, later on, appear in their examinations as well. The child has to however follow the traditional Vedic discipline. It is not necessary that a brahmin person only can follow the brahmin tradition. Whenever a boy of any caste comes to us, they would be initiated the way a brahmin boy would be initiated. They eventually have two options, one is to become a priest or a swami, and we have a lot of devotees who come there.
We also have five schools, providing education to 7,000 children with a very moderate fee structure. We also have one totally free school is Kudugu, in Coorg district. We are in the medical field also in a special way, we have a small yet significant medical school called Sri Sivaratnapuri Temple of Health, which is part of Sru Rajarajeshwari hospital charitable trust. We have an ashram in Tirunavelli, we have an ashram in North Karnataka, new Gadak, and so on.
What is ‘Pyramind Of Health' about?
In the year 1992 in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, a piece of land was earmarked by the cooperative housing society for a civic amenity that was leased out to us. It is a 1.1-acre land, wherein we developed the concept of building a hospital. Coincidentally, in 2005, Swamiji left his body and attained samadhi. From 1992 to 2005 were doing it in a very modest manner with a small allopathic and homeopathic dispensary. When I went there and stood on the land, some memories came back to me about my childhood when I used to play with the pyramid. When I was 19, I got a book called “Secrets Of The Pyraminds’ which greatly impressed me. It gave me a different insight. There is a normal notion that the pyramid is a tomb, a cemetery. In reality, it is not a tomb, because in a tomb the body decomposes, but here is preserved. It was actually a ship for the pharaoh to travel from the mortal world to the immortal world. When I went deeper into the details of the pyramid, I found it fantastic. A pyramid is a powerhouse, it is an energy center. I started doing experiments with cardboard pyramids in my childhood. Then I found something special and those memories came back. I thought, why not build this hospital like a pyramid. The pyramid itself is a construction that harbors so much energy in it. Ultimately, we now have what is called the Sri Shivaratnapuri tri pyramidal temple of health.
What are the services offered at the location?
Basically, it is a one acre land. There are three pyramids there and one is a free allopathic dispensary. Anyone can come at any time and take medication free of cost. The other small pyramid is meant to be a small playground for children, which has proper sea sand which us very rare in a city. There is a lot if value to this, as the sand acts as a natural acute puncture. When children play in the sand they get so much energy. We also have small play equipment there. The second floor of this pyramid is designed to facilitate meditation and yoga.
The other pyramid is 151 feet by 151 feet, and exactly 1/5th of the great pyramid of Egypt, in the same proportion. The tallest pyramid is 96 feet with a wall thickness of 1.5 feet, it does not even have a small pin of metal in it. This is the first time as we know, that a pyramid of that magnitude has been constructed without metal. It is standing on a roof, the colors are also not painted but added naturally. It is made of seven floors, like seven charkas of the body. The ground, first, and second are meant for allopathic medicine and administration. We have dentistry, ophthalmology, cardiology, and psychiatry. On the second floor, we have naturopathy, homeopathy, and Siddha vaidya. Then comes the third, fourth, and fifth floor, which are meant for meditation and yoga.
How will you explain cosmic healing and cosmic energy to a layman?
We understand energy is present everywhere in the world. When it comes to our pyramid, whenever someone comes and sits in the area they get positive energy. It is pretty much why we feel calm when we go to a temple. This includes chanting mantras, offering incense sticks, flowers, and the special way we adore gods, which provides a different vibration. The cosmic energy of the pyramid is a feeling one gets as one enters the pyramid. You can also understand the cosmic energy from the Vastu point of view, which is connected with how we feel at a particular place. When we enter the pyramid, we have a different kind of feeling. If we come in from a normal building, then the difference will be more intelligible. Temperature wise also, this will have a lower temperature than usual. The moment a person starts looking at structures, they have a different feeling altogether. All this is a matter of experience. Now it can be measured on the meter scale which is what we are working on at the moment.
How can someone implement your teachings on a day-to-day basis while conducting life and work?
The first is to understand the necessities of life which most of us are ignoring. On a 24-hour day, one needs to have six to seven hours of sleep for a good healthy body. This is the first thing a professional/working person does, and starts working at night. By the time middle age or old age comes, the body is in a very bad condition. So the first step is to ensure your sleep is correctly monitored. After this, one hour must be dedicated to isolation during which we should do yoga or walking. Once you understand the value of yoga or physical fitness, then one hour is a joy.
What's the next venture after the pyramid of health?
Diet and worship are something we are concentrating on. To introduce philosophy not as a subject, but as a part of life. The idea is to make worship part of our day-to-day affairs. We are looking at a diet that can free you from medication in any part of life, even if you have diabetes, hypertension, or are recovering from cancer. We will give you the confidence that you can cure yourself without medication. First, we will inspire you, then instill the confidence that you can cure yourself without any medication. We will instill the knowledge in you to live along the right path.
