Sri Lanka Economic Crisis – What Stars Foretell
Sri Lanka formerly known as Ceylon shares maritime border with India became free in 1948 from British. It had witnessed a twenty six year old civil war which started in 1983 and ended in 2009 when Sri Lankan armed forces defeated Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). It’s again in the world news for economic crises with its residents facing acute shortage of food, fuel and other essentials.
Let’s examine the foundation chart of Sri Lanka using different techniques to ascertain the possible outcome of the present crisis. The ascendant is Capricorn, a movable sign and its lord Saturn in retrograde motion placed in 7th house of wars. Interestingly four malefic planets placed in the kendras explains the long history of civil war as the 8th lord Sun is in ascendant aspects the lagna lord Saturn sitting in 7th house of conflicts.
The current Vishmottri dasha sequence is of Rahu-Jupiter {May 2021 to October 2023} clearly explains the ongoing crisis as both planets are placed 6th/8th from each other commonly known as Shadashtaka yoga. The D9 (Navmansha) chart also confirms the same.
The upcoming transit of Jupiter to Pisces sign on 13th April 2022 will bring little relief to Sri Lankans as some relief from world community will come forward. The rigid stance of present Rajapakse regime will continue and may provoke violent reactions by residents after Saturn become retrograde from July to September 2022.
Overall the economic recovery will start from March 2023 onwards and may take few years to recover as indicated in the time period of Rahu- Mercury around 2026.
