Samsung usually announces a variety of appliances and enterprise solutions at its annual Forum exhibit in South Asia and this year saw some additions to the company’s line-up. Apart from announcing two new smartphones, the company showcased its new products which included new air conditioners, new washing machines, Hot Blast microwave oven, 5-in-1 smart refrigerators and an Android based printer for large and small scale businesses.
Rajeev Bhutani, Vice President, Consumer Electronics at Samsung started off the announcements with new SUHD televisions for 2016 which were shown off at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016 in Las Vegas in January. The new range comes with an updated design and is said to be world’s first bezel-less curved design. The TVs are powered by the Tizen OS to bring in smart features experience and the display can support high dynamic range (HDR) content, and offers higher brightness and better contrast between light and dark images. It will also come with a universal smart remote control to control all the devices connected to the TV and also brings console-less gaming.
The new Smart Convertible 5-in-1 Refrigerator powered by Twin Cooling Plus technology gives user the flexibility to store according to their needs. Basically the fridge and freezer compartment both have their own cooling system and offers five different modes including the normal daily usage mode:
-Extra Shopping Mode: You can store more in this mode by converting the freezer into a fridge
-Vacation Mode: If one is going out on a vacation and needs to store some food in the freezer, this mode can do so and the fridge compartment is turned off
-Seasonal Mode: With change of season, this mode can keep only the fridge on and switch the freezer off
-Home Alone Mode: If you don't have a lot to store then this mode can switch off the fridge and convert the freezer compartment into a fridge
Samsung also announced an update to its single door range which now comes with a digital inverter compressor and smart connect inverter. The smart digital inverter series consumes less power and provides cooling even when there is a power cut by connecting with the home inverter.
Next, on to the air-conditioning solutions where the company showed its new updated triangular shaped air-cons for the home which are said to consume less power and produce better cooling. The outdoor unit of the split AC comes with DuraFin which is more corrosion resistance as compared to conventional condenser and can withstand harsh weather conditions. There is also an in-built stabilizer feature can handle voltage fluctuations without an external stabilizer.
A new range of washing machines with Samsung's Add-Wash front-load washer was announced which lets consumers add items or extra detergent and fabric softener during wash cycle thanks to added extra door on the upper part of the main washer door. For the top loaders, which come with built-in sink and dedicated water jet for pre-treatment of laundry now comes with a magic dispenser that lets you wash without wasting detergent. It is specially designed to create a powerful water vortex that dissolves both liquid and powder detergent and spreads it evenly before you start washing.
The Hot Blast Smart Oven, was announced which is said to cook faster with a new technology where fast, powerful hot air is blasted downwards directly onto the food from 52 equally distributed air holes, cooking food up to 50% quicker than a traditional convection oven. The new oven also boasts of the SlimFry technology that combines the Hot Blast technology with warm air circulation around the food. This helps in reduction of the consumption of oil.
For the enterprise segment, a unique air-conditioning solution was announced. The new 360 Cassette comes with an innovative design with a round outlet through which the booster fan inside guides air to form a complete horizontal flow and an even distribution of air in a full 360 direction. The air conditioner can be fitted within the ceiling or exposed.
Samsung also gave a glimpse of an Android based printer for small and large enterprises which will open to developers and could be the next big thing that hit printers.
