In line with their commitment to sustainability, “Randstad collaborates with global stakeholders to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They concentrate on five of the 17 SDGs where they can make a significant impact, including quality education, gender equality, decent work, reducing inequality, and climate action” said Viswanath.

1. SDG 4: Quality Education
To advance SDG 4, Randstad recognises the importance of quality education, particularly in developing talent for the workforce. “The company has partnered with UNICEF to upskill 20,000 people in rural India, ensuring they receive valuable training. Randstad's goal is to place at least 10% of these upskilled individuals with their clients, creating meaningful employment opportunities and contributing to quality education” said the CEO of Randstad.
2. SDG 5: Gender Equality
“Gender equality is a core focus for Randstad. The company boasts a strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity, with women making up a significant portion of their workforce. In India alone, 70% of Randstad's employees are women, and globally, 47% of senior management positions are held by women. Randstad actively supports its clients in promoting diversity hiring and advocates for inclusive work environments, aligning with SDG 5”, he added.
3. SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 8 emphasises decent work and economic growth, and Randstad takes this to heart. They aim to offer work that is not only economically viable but also fulfilling and meaningful. Recognising the changing preferences of the new generation, Randstad has adapted its management style and work environments to enhance productivity. This aligns with the goal of promoting decent work and sustainable economic growth.
4. SDG 10: Reducing Inequality
Randstad's commitment to reducing inequality is evident in their practices. The company has been recognised as one of the top 50 places to work for women, demonstrating their dedication to gender equality. Additionally, Randstad has launched the "Randstad for All" program, with plans to employ 12 individuals from the LGBTQ community in various roles within the company. This initiative aims to foster equality and contribute to a more inclusive society, aligning with SDG 10.
5. SDG 13: Climate Action
Climate action is a key priority for Randstad, with a focus on waste management, reducing their carbon footprint, and supporting reforestation efforts. They have initiated tree planting programs in collaboration with organizations like Growtrees, auctioning employees' cherished possessions to fund such initiatives. In addition, Randstad has undertaken various sustainability training programs within the company, emphasizing waste management and sustainable energy consumption, thus aligning with SDG 13.
Through partnerships and initiatives, Randstad works to upskill rural populations, promote gender equality, enhance workplace environments, and reduce their carbon footprint. These efforts include tree planting, waste management, and sustainable energy consumption.
Viswanath also champions digital sustainability, recognizing the increasing role of digital technology in promoting environmental and social responsibility. This approach aligns with the global commitment to achieving net-zero emissions and integrating inclusivity, justice, and equity into sustainability plans to drive transformative outcomes beyond traditional sustainability goals.
