Xiaomi has recently launched its affordable selfie-centric smartphone Y1 in India. The new Redmi Y1 comes in two variants of 3GB RAM/4GB RAM which are priced at Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999, respectively. This Redmi phone will go on sale from November 8 in India.
Also, the same brand Xiaomi already has a player- Redmi 4 which was the second highest selling smartphone in India during the third quarter of this year. Redmi 4 comes in three variants of 2GB RAM/3GB RAM/4GB RAM which are priced at Rs 6,999, Rs 8,999, and Rs 10,999, respectively.

Software and Processor
Redmi Y1 runs on MIUI 8 based on Android Nougat 7.1.2 which will soon be upgraded to MIUI 9 by the end of November. On the other hand, Redmi 4 runs on MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow 6.0 which will also get MIUI 9 update.
Both Redmi Y1 and Redmi 4 are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 Octa-core processor. Both devices are available in different RAM+Storage configurations. However, we will talk about the variants that are priced at Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999.
Both Redmi Y1 and Redmi 4 come in 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB variants and have expandable storage of up to 128GB. The major highlight of Redmi Y1 is its front camera, it sports a 16-megapixel selfie-camera. According to Xiaomi, the front camera of this phone captures more vibrant self-potraits. The front camera features Beautify 3.0 with 36 smart beauty profile, f/2.0 aperture, and LED selfie light. On the rear is a 13-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF technology, and LED flash.

Battery and Features
Redmi Y1 is backed by a 3080mAh battery which the company claims give up to 32 hours of talktime. Redmi 4 has a 4100mAh battery that can give up to 36 hours of talktime.
Both handsets have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with which you can unlock them.
Connectivity options for both smartphones are – Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, 4G VoLTE, GPS/4-GPS, GLONASS and 3.5mm audio-jack.
