One month after its launch in San Francisco, Google Pixel 2 has gone for sale in India from Wednesday (01 November). Pixel 2 will be exclusively available on Flipkart, offline retail partners including Reliance Digital, Croma and many more across India. Pixel 2 comes in three colours- just black, clearly white, and kinda blue.
Pixel 2 comes in two storage variants of 64GB and 128GB which are priced at Rs 61,000 and Rs 70,000, respectively. Flipkart is offering up to Rs 20,000 cashback on exchange and buyers can get 5 per cent off on the purchase of Pixel 2 through Axis Bank Buzz Credit Card.
No-cost EMI starting at Rs 3,389 per month is also available on all pre-orders; Rs 8,000 cashback on HDFC bank credit cards (on EMI transactions only). Airtel subscribers will get 120GB of additional data for 6 months.
Reliance Jio subscribers will get overall benefits worth Rs 14,999. This includes 1 year of unlimited voice, data (750GB), SMS and Jio applications worth Rs 9,999 at no cost; and Rs 5,000 additional exchange bonus, over and above the value of your old phone when exchanged for a Pixel 2 at Reliance Digital stores.
Google Pixel 2 Specs and Features
Pixel 2 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and will be getting OS, security updates from Google for next three years. The second-gen Pixel smartphone is powered by 2.35GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM. It comes in two storage variants of 64GB/128GB; there is no microSD card slot so the storage is not expandable.
Talking about the display, the Pixel 2 features a 5-inch FHD (1920x1080) AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The main highlight of Pixel 2 is its camera, DxOMark Mobile has given the highest rating to second-gen Pixel smartphone. According to DxO, Pixel 2’s camera is better than iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
The handset sports a 12.2-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus + dual pixel phase detection, OIS, EIS, and f/1.8 aperture. It records 4K videos @ 30fps, 1080p @ 30fps, 60fps, and 120fps. On the front of both devices is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with fixed focus and f/2.4 aperture, it is capable of shooting 1080p videos @ 30fps.
Pixel 2 is backed by a 2700mAh battery which delivers up to 7 hours of power after 15 minutes of charge. Following the trend, Google has also ditched the 3.5mm audio-jack and the audio is routed through a headphone adaptor.
The new Pixel smartphones come with Active Edge feature which allows users to launch Google Assistant by squeezing the device which is a pretty similar feature to the HTC’s Edge Sense.
Connectivity options are- dual-band WI-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 + LE, GPS, USB Type-C, GLONASS, and NFC. Both devices are IP67 water and dust resistance. The aluminum unibody smartphone has a fingerprint sensor at their rear panels which unlocks them.
