Razer, known for making gaming peripherals, ventured into making its own portable gaming laptops a couple of years back to give fierce competition to the likes of Alienware. Their latest product announced CES 2016 is the Blade Stealth Ultrabook. The 12.5-inch laptop weighs at just 1.25kgs and will be loaded high-end hardware to fulfil your gaming needs.
Now one might ask, how a PC which is so thin can have enough power to match the needs of high-end games. Well, Razer’s philosophy here is that the laptop on its own is meant to bring in portability to the user and be used as an everyday productivity machine which can also play games at low-to-medium settings. Connecting the laptop to the additional Razer Core graphics card dock (which can accommodate a desktop grade graphics card) enables one to run almost any game which demands graphics resources. The connection is done through a Thunderbolt 3 port which is similar but a faster version of USB Type-C. This kind of arrangement isn’t new though, as a similar docking station is offered by Alienware for its 13-inch model.
Rest of the features include the latest 6th gen Intel Core i7-6500U processor with Intel HD 520 integrated graphics and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. The display options are quite surprising as one can opt for either 2K or an eye-popping 4K resolution. It comes with SSD storage options starting from 128GB going up to 512GB (only on the 4K display model). The keyboard is backlit and it is the first one on an ultrabook to have a per-key RGB backlight.
Prices start at $999 (Rs. 66,000) and will start shipping in the US in late February. No price confirmed on the Razer core GPU dock or if the machine is going to make it to India. Fingers crossed!
