Mid-range smartphones are becoming more popular than the budget smartphones among Indian consumers. The rise in the sales of these smartphones has increased significantly making India as one of the largest smartphone markets in the world.
Manufacturers are launching new smartphones in the mid-price range of Rs 15,000 - Rs 20,000. In this price range, devices like Samsung J7 Max, Honor 9i, Oppo F5, Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and Moto G5s Plus, face tough competition with each other.
Samsung J7 Max
Samsung J7 Max runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and powered by 1.69GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It has an inbuilt storage of 32GB which is expandable up to 256GB through a MicroSD card. The metal unibody smartphone is only 8.1mm thick.
The smartphone features a 5.7-inch full HD (1920x1080) display. It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and LED Flash. On the front is a 13-megapixel camera for selfies with f/1.9 aperture and LED Flash.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Max is backed by a non-removable 3300mAh battery. It has a fingerprint sensor below the display. The dual-SIM (nano+nano) handset supports 4G LTE. Connectivity options includes- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio-jack, Micro USB, GPS and GLONASS.
The smartphone is launched Samsung Pay Mini feature where users can turn their Samsung smartphones into a wallet, storing credit and debit cards.

Honor 9i
Honor 9i runs on EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. It is powered by Huawei Kirin 659 Octa-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM. It has 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB through a MicroSD card.
Honor 9i features a 5.9-inch FullView FHD (2160x1080) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It sports a dual rear camera setup of 16-MP+2-MP with LED flash. On the front is also a dual camera setup of 13-MP+2-MP with soft flash and bokeh effects.
The dual-SIM Honor 9i is backed by a 3340mAh battery that can deliver up to 20 hours of talktime. There is a fingerprint sensor on the rear which is used for unlocking the device.

Oppo F5
Chinese smartphone company Oppo on Thursday (2 November) launched its selfie-focused smartphone Oppo F5 in India. Oppo F5 is available for pre-bookings till 8 November, it will go on sale from November 9 onwards through Flipkart and offline retailers across India.
Oppo F5 runs on ColorOS 3.2 which is based on Android 7.1 Nougat. It is powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT 6763T processor coupled with 4GB/6GB RAM. The smartphone comes in two RAM+storage variants of 4GB+32GB and 6GB+64GB, the storage in both variants is expandable up to 256GB through a dedicated microSD card slot.
Oppo F5 features a 6-inch FHD+ (2160x1080) full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio, 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. There is a rear mounted fingerprint sensor on the device which unlocks it. Oppo has also introduced facial recognition in this device just like Apple’s Face ID with which you can unlock the device.
The major highlight of this smartphone is its camera; Oppo F5 sports a 20-megapixel front facing camera which is integrated with AI for selfies.
"With more than 200 facial recognition spots that reference the image against a global database of human faces to learn facial features, shapes, and structures, F5 can distinguish each person’s face features from skin tone and type, gender, age and more. AI Beauty technology will customize beautify based on one’s features from skin, eyes, lips, to face shape."
On the rear is a 16-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture, bokeh effect and LED flash.
With the Oppo F5, the company introduced some new features like O-share file for file transferring which Oppo claims is 100 times faster than Bluetooth. Also there is split screen feature where users can do multitasking.
The dual-SIM smartphone is backed by a 3200mAh battery. Talking about connectivity, it includes 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS, 3.5 mm audio jack and Micro-USB. The handset measures 156.5 x 76 x 7.5mm and weighs 152 grams.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2
Mi Max 2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It has 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB through a MicxroSD card.
Mi Max 2 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8- company’s custom ROM on top. It features a 6.44-inch HD (1920x1080) IPS display with 2.5D glass. The handset is powered by a non-removable 5300mAh battery which can last for two days, supports Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging.
It sports a 12-megapixels rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and dual LED Flash, on the front is an 5-megapixels selfie-camera. The storage in the device can be expanded up to 128GB through a MicroSD card. Mi Max 2 comes in metallic body with rounded edges.
The device has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor just like its predecessor. The dual-SIM (nano+micro) device is compatible with 4G. Unlike Mi 6 which dropped the 3.5mm audio-jack, Mi Max 2 has a 3.5mm audio-jack on the top.
