Tech major Apple is reportedly gearing up to introduce its most anticipated next generation MacBook Air with an M4 chip by 2025, according to a media report on Saturday.
Apple is focused on enhancing the performance and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of the MacBook Air. Despite these notable improvements, the design of the device is anticipated to stay mostly unchanged from previous versions.
The report highlighted that Apple is set to release the next iPad Pro with the M4 chip in May, ahead of its WWDC 2024 event in June. This strategy will allow for a spotlight on iOS 18 and its AI capabilities without the distraction of a new iPad launch.
Apple is set to unveil M4-powered Macs in the autumn of 2024, following the recent release of the new iPad Pro. Additionally, the new MacBook Air is slated to hit the market in the spring that follows.
The M4 chip in the MacBook Air will focus on enhancing AI functionalities, possibly featuring a Neural Engine with a higher number of cores compared to the existing M3 chip's 16-core setup.
Further, it is anticipated that the M4 will employ the identical 3-nanometer process as the M3, potentially resulting in a more modest performance improvement when compared to previous generational advancements due to the absence of a change in node size. Nevertheless, users can still expect a discernible enhancement in performance for both routine and resource-intensive tasks.
