Wipro saw a significant shakeup in its leadership on Friday as Chief Operating Officer (COO) Amit Choudhary resigned to pursue opportunities outside the organisation.
Choudhary’s departure, effective immediately but concluding on 31 May, marks the second high-profile exit from Wipro in recent weeks, following the resignation of Anis Chenchah, the company’s Asia Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) president, on 10 May.
Both Choudhary and Chenchah had joined Wipro during the tenure of former CEO Thierry Delaporte, who himself resigned on 6 April. The trio shares a common professional background, having all worked at the France-headquartered Capgemini before joining Wipro. The succession of departures suggests a period of transition for the company's leadership.
Stepping into Choudhary’s shoes is Sanjeev Jain. Jain, who joined Wipro in 2023 as the global head of business operations, brings over 30 years of experience in leading large, diverse teams and scaling up global operations. His tenure at Wipro has been marked by his leadership in various crucial areas, including talent supply chain management, AI training, and upskilling strategies.
Jain’s appointment comes with a broad mandate, as he will now oversee global business operations, the chief information office, the chief information security office, and the enterprise risk management function within Wipro. He has an extensive background at prominent firms such as Kyndryl Holdings (IBM spin-off), IBM, Cognizant and GE, coupled with his education at IIM-Mumbai.
