Bengaluru-based IT player Wipro announced the appointment of Hari Shetty as the new Chief Strategist and Sales Excellence Officer, effective immediately.
The announcement is the first major executive appointment under the leadership of the newly appointed CEO, Srinivas Pallia, who took the helm on 6 April following the departure of former CEO Thierry Delaporte.
Shetty, who until now served as the Senior Vice President & Sector Head for Technology Platforms, Products & Gaming, is a seasoned Wipro veteran with three decades of experience within the company. His prior roles have seen him at the forefront of several strategic domains, including retail and distribution. Shetty's experience also covers handling significant portfolios in cloud computing, artificial intelligence and automation sectors, which have been pivotal in reshaping business landscapes.
During his tenure at Wipro, Shetty notably led the “Change & Transform” initiative in the consumer business division, focusing on four strategic areas: digital transformation, cloud services, engineering services and cybersecurity. His leadership in these areas involved spearheading major digital transformation projects and developing industry-specific solutions that integrate sophisticated design and engineering capabilities.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Shetty’s educational background is diverse, holding degrees in computer science engineering, management (MTech), finance (CFA) and law (LLB). This multi-faceted education equips him well for the challenges of his new role, where he will be expected to drive strategic and sales initiatives across the global operations of Wipro.
