This time, another homegrown smartphone manufacturer has announced its comeback in the market. Lava takes on Twitter to announce its official resurgence and revealed the date on which it will be releasing its new device, which is on the 7th of January, 2021.
Announcing the comeback, Lava tweeted "The day when Smartphone industry will never be the same again" The tweet also mentioned the hashtag - #AbDuniyaDekhegi and #ProudlyIndian.
According to reports, Lava is preparing to launch smartphones at every price point for the Indian market, which is currently dominated by Chinese smartphone brands such as Xiaomi, Realme, and Oppo.
The recent report also claims that Lava is all set to introduce four new smartphones in India priced between Rs 5,000 to 15,000. However, the details of smartphones and the name is still not disclosed by the company.
As part of its strategy, the company has recently launched a phone exclusively for women. Also some time ago Lava launched the temperature measuring smartphone Lava Pulse 1 in India, which is able to tell your body temperature without touching it. This smartphone could have proved quite useful in the Covid-19 era.
Why Are Indian Brands Making A Comeback?
One of the major reasons behind the strong comeback of Indian brands is the PLI scheme. The PLI scheme was introduced on April 1 earlier this year by the Government of India that aims to position India as a global hub for Electronics System Design and Manufacturing. This scheme also provides an incentive to India based manufacturers.
According to the industry body ICEA, Lava, Dixon, Micromax, Padget Electronics, Sojo, UTL, and Optiemus have lined up for availing the benefits under the production-linked incentive PLI scheme.
