Raabta and Behen Hogi Teri put up poor show at the box-office in first weekend. Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Raabta opened with Rs 15.93 crore at the box-office, whereas Behen Hogi Teri showed dismissive performance managing only Rs 1.50 crore in first three days.
Raabta received poor reviews from critics and the word of mouth was below average. With good music and moderate promotions, the movie was expected to take good opening at the box-office. The other release, Behen Hogi Teri engaged average reviews from the critics and good word of mouth from the audience. Despite of the positive buzz, the movie failed to bring in good numbers at the box-office.
Raabta opened with Rs 5.61 crore on Friday (9 June). The morning occupancy was dull and the film did not pick up in the evening shows. Saturday (10 June) and Sunday (11 June) was no party either for the film, with Rs 5.11 and Rs 5.21 coming in, respectively. Made at a healthy budget of Rs 55 crore, the movie might fail to bring profits for the makers.
Behen Hogi Teri struggled at the box-office in the first weekend. The movie only managed to bring in Rs 1.50 crore in the first three days. The presence of Rajkumar Rao could not help the movie rake in good moolah at the box-office.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s last movie MS Dhoni - The Untold Story, saw a terrific weekend of Rs 66 crore at the box-office. The actor has always pulled in moderate numbers for his films barring Raabta. His previous films like Shuddh Desi Romance and Kai Po Che collected better numbers than Raabta in the opening weekend.
Tom Cruise starrer The Mummy also debuted at the box-office on Friday (9 June). The movie was thrashed by the critics and audience reception was also poor. The Mummy raked in close to Rs 10 crore at the Indian box-office in first three days.
