Speaking at the inaugural address of PIO (Persons Of Indian Origin) Parliamentarian conference in New Delhi, PM Modi applauded EAM (External Affairs Minister) Sushma Swaraj for the hard work saying that she takes cares of the citizens of India along with all the PIO at the same time.
“Sushma Swaraj ji not only takes care of Indian citizens but also the NRIs. Under her, our Ministry of External Affairs keeps an eye on problems of NRIs 24*7 with a real-time monitoring system,” said Modi.
Extending his applauds for the EAM he also praised her for strengthening the relationship with ASEAN countries.
PM also congratulated Swaraj for a successful completion of the South East Asia tour. During the speech, PM constantly motivated the PIO parliamentarians.
“When there is news about how you all are influencing the geo-politics of where you live & how you are making policies we feel proud.”
“No matter where they are, I can imagine how happy your ancestors must be on seeing you all here,” PM said during his speech.
Asserting the work done by the BJP, PM said that now India is viewed very differently in the world. He also said that the days of lingering on things and accepting what is not right have gone.
PM invited all the PIO to come and be a part of the transforming India.
"India has moved way ahead of the 'jaisa pehle tha vaisa chalta rahega, kuch badlega nahi' thinking, aims and aspirations of our people are on an all-time high and that is because of the transformation the country is going through," he said.
"Today, bodies like the World Bank, IMF and Moody's are looking at India in a very positive way," he added.
The PIO conference has as many as 124 MP’s and 17 Mayors will participate from more than 25 Countries. It is a first of its kind initiative for India to establish a connect with its diaspora abroad.
The biggest delegation is from Guyana with 20 MP’s and 3 Mayors, followed by Trinidad and Tobago with 16 MP’s and 4 Mayors. The event will be conducted in two working sessions on PIO Parliamentarians the story of the journey to parliament, and Resurgent India, the role of PIO Parliamentarians.
