The Uttar Pradesh government has invited private investments totaling Rs 490 crore for the preservation and maintenance of nine historical monuments. According to reports, apart from inviting investment, the state's tourism department will be actively seeking private investments to operate and manage ten Rahi tourist bungalows.
A government spokesperson has been quoted that the selected nine monuments will undergo transformation into luxurious hotels and boutique restaurants. "A comprehensive action plan has been devised and is already underway. Under this plan, an investment of Rs 100 crore each is being sought for the restoration of Chhattar Manzil in Lucknow, Chunar Fort in Mirzapur, and Barua Sagar Fort in Jhansi. The tourism department is spearheading this initiative and has initiated the identification process for implementing agencies," stated the spokesperson.
Furthermore, private investments of Rs 50 crore each are being solicited for the rejuvenation of Kothi Gulistan-e-Alam, Kothi Darshan Vilas, and Kothi Raushan-ud-Daula—all located in Lucknow. The remaining three historically significant sites, each receiving Rs 30 crore from private entities, include Jal Mahal in Barsana, Mathura, Shukla Talab in Kanpur Dehat, and Tikaitrai Baradari in Kanpur Nagar.
Simultaneously, the tourism department is actively seeking private sector involvement in the redevelopment of tourist bungalows by leasing them for development and operation. These bungalows, located in Dewa Sharif (Barabanki), Hargaon (Sitapur), Kanthala (Shamli), Kachla (Badaun), Chunar (Mirzapur), and Bhupiya Mau (Pratapgarh), are currently in the process of identifying potential investors.
