The Uttar Pradesh government will be collaborating with various firms of Singapore to make UP cities clean. The state government has signed 20 MoUs worth Rs 28,000 crores in December last. This was revealed at a session by Singapore as the partner country for UP Global Investors Summit in Lucknow on Friday.
Addressing the session, the state minister for urban development AK Sharma said that there are many people from UP who are now based in Singapore. "In other words, the people of our UP made Singapore. Now it is the responsibility of Singapore to beautify UP", he remarked.
He further added that the cleanliness of Singapore has impressed him a lot and he now looks at Singapore to help make Lucknow and other UP cities clean. He further added that the country has signed MoUs in several sectors. “MoUs have been signed in many areas including Urban Infrastructure, Industrial Corridor, IT-Electronics, Logistics, Startup, Data Center, Ethanol-Sugar Industry. In larger areas, we have a lot to learn from Singapore in the construction of industrial infrastructure and high rise buildings,” Sharma said.
The investors who have signed MoUs with the UP government were also present during the session on Friday. Earlier, post his meeting with the UP CM, Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong said, “Our investment in India is USD 120 billion. But, most of the investment is in the southern states. In July last year, we came to know that the UP government is going to hold the Global Investors Summit, so we met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and expressed interest to become the first partner country. I am happy that our governments will share their knowledge and experience.
